I am privileged to have met Chris through the Cesg in 2009, where his exuberant enthusiasm and as Jeff said in the service 'his infectious laugh' stood out to me. I was delighted when Chris journeyed with me through the Ignation spiritual exercises and for his commitment to travelling up from Kendal every saturday morning to Carlisle to facilitate that with me. Whenever I hear the organ playing, I think fondly of Chris, his generous spirit and his equitable humanity. I am honoured to have known him in the Cumbria spirituality group, a place where at last, I came home, to fellow contemplative travellers and silent worshippers, who could also enjoy a blast of Bach, the organ pipes or a contemporary song. I am finding today, taking part in this service and reading Chris's obituary that there was much I did not know about Chris and I feel wonderfully inspired by his social justice and all that he achieved, stood for, and lived with passion and integrity. I love the fact that he retained a childlike joy, could laugh and joke and enjoy being Grandpa! Thankyou for hosting this site, I am so glad that I could be a part of this service to remember Chris and give thanks for all the good that he did and through his legacy and impact on those who knew him continues to inspire faith and good works.
